Fukuoka Prefecture is home to Wakamachi Harbor — once Japan's largest coal terminal port, whose handling volume far surpassed even Muroran, the pride of Hokkaido. By railway, by streetcar, by car, by raft — using every means of transportation imaginable, coal was carried from the station to the harbor, and amid that bustle, Mumumu kept on working. Now that coal production has ceased, the harbor has grown quiet and calm, yet a massive road bridge still spans it. Coal and people. Trains and cars. What is carried, and what carries it, have both changed completely — and yet, the hum of human life still echoes on, somehow unchanged. Mumumu, who loves such sounds, enjoys the ferry that still remains today together with you, her Master — and soothes your tired ears with a salt massage using "Tamaichi Salt," another proud local specialty of Fukuoka, followed by a moisturizing cream rich in seawater minerals. The ear-cleaning that follows uses a silver ear pick, in a nod to the mines that once yielded such ore. I bought this because I'm drawn to Tomori Kusunoki! I bought it together with her latest work, and both are just too good! I've been listening to it many times before sleep. Mumumu-chan is so cute I'm just happy… The whispered chit-chat parts are my favorite here! Tomori Kusunoki's incredibly soothing voice makes me fall asleep over and over! I bought it right after listening to the sample, but the sound quality is just so good, so please give the sample a listen…!
This time there's a sense that the whole thing has this atmosphere like being somewhere on a coast. Also, to be honest, I bought this because I was just too happy to be able to hear Tomori-san's voice again in this kind of work. Somehow I end up listening intently without even realizing it, so I think it'd be great for times when you want to relax somewhere far away but can't go because you're not feeling well, that sort of thing. Though even without a situation like that, I'd still recommend it.
This is the second installment of the audio work depicting time spent with Mumumu. Tied in with the anime "Reル・Romanesque 2", I think the themes of this work match up really well. As a feature of this series, the first part or two tends to emphasize field recording sound sources, but with this installment, there was also a vibe suggesting that Mumumu-chan's talking is more the main focus. Since Mumumu is good at thinking things through and explaining, her narration feels really natural and easy to listen to. I feel like I could keep listening to talking like Track 1 forever without getting tired of it. It's the kind of thing where you can either listen closely and take it all in, or just let it play without thinking as a way to fall asleep. If you manage to stay awake and listen all the way to the end without dozing off, you get to hear Mumumu talk about her past. It shows a completely different side of her than usual, so make sure to take in her feelings toward you. Of course, it's also packed with ASMR elements like ear cleaning and whispering, so it's well suited for helping you fall asleep too. Definitely a recommendable work!
