This is part of the Chikuon Reil series of voice works featuring Reil Romanesque, and even in the sightseeing scenes at the beginning, the narration paints such a vivid picture of the scenery that it actually makes you want to go there yourself. Each Reilroid delivers their own dialect along with soothing sounds that match their individual characteristics. The sound quality is excellent, making this a work that can be enjoyed even by those who don't know much about Reil Romanesque or trains.
I never expected a sequel to Kaniko to come out. It was a happy surprise. Also, since this time's location is Hokkaido, where I live, and the price is reasonable while the content is substantial, I decided to buy it. I bought the previous work because I like Rie Tanaka, who voices Kaniko. The sense of closeness with Kaniko is quite close right from the start—being told "It's cold, so I'll snuggle right up to you" and then actually being snuggled up to, how happy can you get? And as someone from Hokkaido, I also thought it was cute how she frequently used the dialect word "dabesa." Going together to Mt. Daisetsu, making various discoveries, and having my ears cleaned—this installment too was a wonderful work that healed me with the sounds of nature and the Railroid. There's no continuity in the story, so it's fine to start buying from this one. Recommended for those who like the voice actress, the sounds of nature, or want to have their ears cleaned.
This is a voice work where you travel around famous spots in Hokkaido with a cute heroine and get healed through things like ear cleaning. The heroine Kaniko has a rather loli-ish appearance and refers to herself as "Kaniko," giving off quite a young vibe, but since the performer Rie Tanaka's voice and acting don't lean too heavily into that, I felt it struck just the right balance. The story follows you, as their master, traveling with Kaniko to Mt. Asahi in the Daisetsuzan range, a famous spot in Hokkaido, featuring sound effects with a real sense of care and craftsmanship, and content that guides you through richly emotive depictions of nature. Kaniko speaks mostly in standard Japanese, but dialect words like "shitakke" pop up from time to time, which should really hit home for dialect lovers. It also includes standard ASMR elements like ear cleaning and sleeping together, making for content with excellent balance overall. Early purchases even came with a high-quality 3.5-minute anime, making it a voice work with satisfaction well beyond its price.
