Listening Anime: The Nameless Game — Special Edition

I bought this for the script by Akano Kousaku, but not just the story — the illustrations, direction, and voice acting were all wonderful. As for the main thread of the story, as the synopsis says, it's about "scrambling to repair an android that overheated and broke down," but as the repairs progress within a world that recalls the writer's previous work "The video game with no name," the relationship between the protagonists, the apparently quite lively "comment section," and a game that received a number of low ratings are all gradually revealed. These elements dig deep into who these girls (android figures?) are, well beyond what you'd expect from a mere 7 episodes... and above all, they let you imagine endlessly about the future of the hugely popular radio show "The Game With No Name." I'm not well versed in the field, so I don't know whether to call this a voice drama, ASMR, or an anime, and I'm not too familiar with typical pricing for such things either, but viewed as a single story — and considering it as the right to watch it as many times as you like, and burn it onto an HDD or SSD as many times as you like — personally I think it's practically a steal. As soon as I post this review, I'm starting my second playthrough. Hoping for a sequel.

The script's構成 — sorry, let me redo that naturally: The structure of the script was wonderful. It gives the same kind of satisfaction as binge-watching an entire cour of an original anime in one sitting. The setting feels both close to and far from our own, and I personally loved how our current era is treated as "retro." The voice actors' performances made the characters' emotional shifts easy to feel, and as the story progressed, the purpose of the narrative gradually became clear, so it didn't take long to get immersed. By the end, I found myself wishing I could hear more of the two of them broadcasting, and at the same time, thanks to how complete the work felt, it struck me as a masterpiece with an ideal conclusion.
