Girls × Vampire Special Voice: Kanade's Chapter

I really enjoyed this dense, intimate voice drama between Tomita-san as the vampire Ruruna and Ueda-san as her thrall Wakana. Since this is the Wakana volume, I'll focus my review on Ueda-san's performance. As someone who's a fan of Ueda-san, I felt this really highlighted a sultriness I'd never heard from her before. It was adorable how she'd cling to Ruruna's arm with a "Gyu~!" or show her joy like a typical high schooler with "Wa~i!" or "Yatta~!" And the icing on the cake was when Ruruna bites Wakana's neck and she lets out "Ugh..." and "Ah~!" — the sultriness went completely off the charts (lol). I had never heard Ueda-san's voice sound this seductive before, so I got to discover a whole new charm of hers! It really felt like Ruruna was thoroughly training Wakana's sultry side, as if there were a master-servant relationship between them. This time it suddenly dropped as a new release with no advance notice, and I just hit the purchase button — but I was thoroughly satisfied with the content ♪ (If there actually was advance notice and I missed it, I apologize!) If there's a sequel, I'll be looking forward to it!

As the title "Ruruna-sama, Wakaraseru" suggests, this is basically the story of the vampire Ruruna and her thrall Wakana. This is the "Wakana volume," so these are my impressions from Wakana's perspective — and it's sweet... just incredibly sweet! Ruruna-sama tries various approaches to make Wakana understand her place, but it has absolutely no effect on the overly devoted Wakana. This reversal of the master-servant dynamic was really interesting. And Wakana's voice when Ruruna-sama drinks her blood... I think anyone who's listened to it would agree, it was amazing! I also personally loved Reina Ueda's delivery in the part where Wakana explains why she's so devoted to Ruruna-sama...! There's also an ASMR part, but only Wakana appears in it. The ear cleaning segment is about 6 minutes, and it was nice to feel the closeness between Wakana and Ruruna-sama's perspective. The pet shop segment gives you the feeling of being on a date with Wakana, and that was wonderful too. In the after-talk at the end with Reina Ueda, it was great to hear how she approached performing Wakana's "love" for Ruruna-sama!

Some works can be enjoyed without knowing the source material, but I think this one is meant for people who already know the original. That said, you don't need to buy the manga to catch up on the source material — you can read it for free. The original has both a novel version and a manga version, and since most chapters wrap up in 1-2 installments and there aren't that many chapters yet, it's easy to read. It's a yuri work, but for now the romantic elements are light and comedic elements are more prominent, which makes it very enjoyable. As for the content, I first thought the characters' voices and acting matched exactly what I imagined. Wakana, played by Reina Ueda, has a certain "naughtiness" that occasionally shows in the original work, and that aspect exceeded my expectations. I really hope you'll buy it and enjoy it. There's also an ear-cleaning track, but overall the structure is close to a drama CD, made for enjoying Girls x Vampire.

I haven't read the source material, but I enjoyed listening to this immensely. At the start, the vampire Ruruna-sama makes her entrance with plenty of dignity. But then, before you know it, her overly devoted (and overly heavy) thrall Wakana throws her completely off her rhythm... Wait, wait? Could it be that Wakana is actually more dangerous than the vampire...? The mismatched conversations between the two, followed by Ruruna's all-out retorts, made me chuckle. Since the original story and supervision are by Teren Mikami-sensei, known as the author of "Watanare," you also get to enjoy the well-paced banter and wordplay. Wakana is played by Reina Ueda. Her performance, expressing Wakana's slightly crazy, single-minded love, is wonderful. Ruruna is played by Miyu Tomita-san, known for her tsundere and straight-man roles. Ruruna's character is truly a perfect fit for her. Whether you come in as a fan of the original, of Reina Ueda, of Miyu Tomita, or of Teren Mikami-sensei, I think there are many entry points, but this is a work anyone can enjoy.

This is a very gratifying work for fans, covering everything from the voice drama to ASMR to the after-talk. Since it's based on an existing work, the character banter is fun and the descriptions are easy to picture — that was wonderful too! The realism of the ear cleaning alternating left and right, and above all, the overwhelming happiness of getting Reina Ueda's ear-blowing — thank you so much! Both the master and Wakana are lovey-dovey, special, and charming (find out what that means in the main story →)

I haven't read the source material, but the dynamic between the two characters really came through, and it was very enjoyable to listen to. Ruruna, trying to act dignified but constantly getting thrown off by Wakana, gradually started to feel kind of cute. Hearing Ruruna's retorts oddly puts me at ease (lol) Wakana being super lovestruck was also great. And about Ueshama's (Ueda-san's) acting — there are quite a few voice works out there, but this one, including the Ruruna volume, really pushed the envelope even further! Above all, her voice while being bitten was way too erotic. And she's cute when she's being lovestruck too. Then the crying scene overflowed with emotion, and I was reminded once again of just how skilled her acting is. The ASMR part was, as expected from Ueshama, incredibly powerful as always. Grateful for the fresh content. Also glad the talk part was in binaural audio. Thank you for this wonderful work!

Ahh, this is a good one. If there's a Ruruna volume, well, of course there's gonna be a Wakana volume too. The size of the fishhook that is "Ruruna-sama will make you understand" — impressive. A masterful catch, that was. Compared to the Ruruna volume, this one's got a stronger comedic flavor... or so you'd think, until the heavy dampness hits you like a body blow. In the end, even Ruruna loses to little Wakana, doesn't she. I've heard there's a term "spec dari" (super high-spec darling) floating around out there. I think Ruruna is exactly that. By the way, is there a sequel coming?

The voices and atmosphere were exactly as I imagined from reading the manga, and it was wonderful! Ruruna-sama's retorts, Wakana's fanatically devoted remarks, and the sense of distance between the two were all fully expressed — I was in awe of both actresses' skill. Even those who haven't read the source material can enjoy this, but why not take this opportunity to read the original too? I'd also recommend reading the manga while listening to this work!

I listened to this after reading the source material, and it really matched my image perfectly. Reina Ueda is always so skilled at expressing a character's various kinds of dangerous, precarious charm, and this time was no exception. Her constant slightly-high tension, and being just a bit out of sync with Ruruna, came through vividly. The banter between the two was so sweet, and Wakana's seductive voice had incredible impact. Especially in Part 3, Wakana's crying performance really grabbed my heart. Of course, those who know the source material will be satisfied, but knowing it will let you enjoy this even more. A wonderful work!

A yuri work with Miyu Tomita and Reina Ueda is just the strongest, as expected! I bought this because it's a voice drama & ASMR featuring my favorite yuri pair! Just listening to it made my ears so happy, and I'm really glad I bought it! In the daily thank-you ear cleaning and the pet shop scene playing with the dog, I really loved Wakana's "Master"! Thank you for this wonderful work!
