Heyyy everyone!! Long time no see!! It's been like 20 years, right?! Did you hear this situation voice drama?! It's seriously insane!! And so begins the reunion. Everyone got their glass?! Here we goooo?!?! My eternal gratitude to Emolove Voice for casting the legendary, super A-list voice actor Toshihiko Seki—who captivated every old-school otaku who lived through the Heisei era, and whose name still sends the community into a frenzy whenever he's cast in a new anime—as an "obsessive type" man, and for casting Soichiro Hoshi—who continues to unleash his uniquely adored, doted-upon voice in works aimed at women, gaining fans from both Heisei and Reiwa otaku alike—as a "madly in love (the craziest one)" man. I can never repay this debt; I owe them my eternal loyalty. My heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in production. Now, onto the actual content. It starts with me, the "little sister," being told that my mother and the father of six half-siblings from a previous marriage have remarried, and that I'll now be living under one roof as a step-sibling. ...Really? I can't believe it... In the track where all the siblings talk at once, you can tell everyone's basically being talked into it, no argument allowed, and at that point I was like "wait, is this really okay??"... and sure enough, it's not okay! Fate, fate—!! And now, the main event: the fourth son, Kagenshirou, and the eldest son, Gosui. Out of all six brothers in what is probably a "no matter how you struggle, it ends badly" kind of story, these two felt like they carried some of the most intense "madness, distortion, and obsessive love." There's a track with such strong horror elements that I actually blurted out loud, "Wait, is this really DLsite?!" Seki's performance conveys an overwhelming, inescapable sense of fear and unease, while Hoshi masterfully portrays the transformation from a friendly, puppy-like demeanor into something steeped in obsession and madness. Getting swept up in their skills, I felt the two step-brothers' obsessive, twisted love directed at me, the "little sister," so vividly that the immersion was incredible. It seems this series doesn't wrap up in just the first installment, so I'll be waiting forever for the next one. I don't have enough characters to say everything. Thank you so much!! I have no idea what genre this even counts as anymore.
The story doesn't conclude in this installment. I haven't purchased the other two works released at the same time, so I can't say for sure, but it's probably a continuing series. Even after listening to all three, I feel like there still wouldn't be a real ending. This one feels more like an introduction (character intro), and it ends there too. Still, both of the featured characters are mysterious, and it seems like there's something going on with the main plot, but nothing is really revealed yet. I'm incredibly curious about what comes next. You can tell from the free talk that Seki-san, who isn't used to binaural mic recording, had a hard time with both the acting and getting used to the distance from the mic during recording. I hope he gets offered more work like this in the future—maybe some healing ear-cleaning voice work—and comes out with more binaural mic voice dramas on DLsite. I want to hear more healing-type voices from him. (Please master the binaural mic, haha haha haha.) Hoshi-san's voice was cute too, but his character seemed like he has more than one or two quirks hiding under that cheerful exterior—not just simple energy. Seems like a tough role. (His sense of mic distance was really good though, lol.) I feel like all the cast members in this drama had a pretty tough time with it ( ̄▽ ̄;)
This is my first review. First, let me say this: Thank you so much for giving us this binaural mic work with Toshihiko Seki!!! I was thinking, "I wish there was a gentle-voiced binaural work with Toshihiko Seki... but I guess it can't be helped since he doesn't usually do that kind of work," and right at that moment, I saw the trailer for this one. I thought I was dreaming. And when I checked the character details, it said "yandere step-brother"!? Isn't that just the best?! So of course I bought it. Any fan of Toshihiko Seki who's also into yandere step-brothers in otome games should preserve this one forever. Hoshi-san plays the innocent, cheerful eldest son, and Seki-san plays the cool-headed fourth son, and the two of them seem to get along really well—their light, playful banter is definitely one of the highlights. But more than anything, the sheer weight of both their "love" for the heroine is insane. Spoilers below. The eldest son is completely unhinged. He starts saying things like "You (the heroine, my little sister) were my lover in a past life," you know? I kept thinking "what is this guy even saying?" but I couldn't stop listening. And yet somehow I found myself thinking, "He loves me that deeply... Onii-chan..." which scared me. So this is what brainwashing feels like. And then there's the fourth son. Compared to his over-the-top older brother, he seems like the more grounded, realistic one. I thought, "maybe he's actually kind of indifferent toward the heroine too"... but no. Toward the end, he lets loose completely—love, desire, obsession, all of it, laid bare. It sent chills down my spine in more ways than one...! The overall story felt like a basic romantic comedy, but it also had horror and mystery elements, and I was extremely satisfied. I've only bought this one installment so far, but if every character in this series is a "yandere step-brother," then I have no choice but to collect them all. Thank you for such a wonderful series. And I hope this leads to more situational binaural works from Seki-san in the future...!
