I really do love this classic formula where you're bound to get caught and lose. What I love about Kurumi-chan is the contrast between her quiet mode and her mesugaki mode. The quiet, indoorsy version of her, earnestly cleaning your ears while believing what the adult man tells her, all with voiceless whispering, feels wonderful on the ears, and once she sees through the lie and starts treating her pathetic weakling of a brother's ears like a toy without holding back, that's great for the ears too. It's really nice how the difference between the two modes comes through clearly in things like the drool used to wet the ear pick. There's a real sense of immersion in the gradual shift from quiet girl to mesugaki as she starts to look down on him, thinking "wait, could this guy be...?"—and both voices are cute in their own way. The ear-blowing is great too. This one was truly worth losing to. The turning point roughly lines up with the track changes, so it's also nice that there's a left-right reversed track, letting you choose which ear you'd like to lose in. Thanks to a good mesugaki's good ear cleaning, I got to fully savor that "losing is winning" kind of pleasure!
