I'm a heavy user who's purchased over 400 works, and I'm basically not someone who writes reviews, but this was such an amazing work that it made even someone like me want to convey its wonderfulness. First of all, even though I'm about to write a review with spoilers, I want you to listen without seeing the spoilers first. The reason is, I want you to experience this work as your 100% pure self who knows nothing about the heroine. How you feel about this work completely changes between not knowing about the heroine and knowing about her. So, for your first listen, please listen in a state of knowing nothing. From here on, my personal impressions with spoilers. The first time I listened, it was shocking. It felt like being betrayed in a good way. Fans of yandere characters will feel a pleasant shiver. Heroines in yandere works are often one-sided, which is fine in itself, but I always felt something was slightly off when the push was too strong—I wanted to love the other person too, you know? But Yomogi-chan skillfully guides you and makes it into mutual love. Rather than one-sidedly pushing her love onto you, she's a yandere heroine with the charm of being able to properly consider the other person's feelings and hold herself back. For me, this felt like the optimal answer for what a yandere should be. Also, this work is one that's delicious more than twice with a single bite. As I mentioned at the start, how you feel about the work and the meaning of the lines completely change before and after you learn Yomogi-chan's true nature. If you listen carefully paying attention to things like how she laughs and how she delivers her lines, you'll be able to feel even more of the ups and downs of Yomogi-chan's hidden side, and enjoy the work even more. Going from a natural conversation with a close friend to suddenly realizing you've been dancing entirely on her palm the whole time gives you a completely different kind of impression. In any case, the setting, script, and acting were all things I have nothing but praise for—it was an amazing work. Sorry for the long review.
As stated in the work's overview as "a little devil," it's never one-sided affection—there's push and pull that keeps your heart racing. And if you listen all the way to the end, your brain gets melted. At the end, it looks as though she's revealed her true nature, but even then, you can't tell how much of it is acting and how much is genuine. It was really great to experience the pleasure of being manipulated by a bewitching younger woman.
This kind of full-on yandere is pretty rare among Utaurin's works, I think. Yomogi-chan feels like a modern-day kind of girl who teases her onii-san a bit, but it's not rude—it's more like friendly, easygoing fun, and she's a really nice girl. I'd love to be loved by a girl like this~ While listening, there are shivers from being teased and getting embarrassed, shivers of heart-fluttering cuteness, and shivers of fear. It's seriously shiver after shiver. The ending was genuinely scary...
