The first thing I thought while listening to this audio was, "ah, this is so relatable." It doesn't go as far as "I thought I hung up but I hadn't" territory, but there were places I could really relate to, so I enjoyed it. But the best part is the sound quality and noise that make it feel like an actual phone call—this especially felt realistic! I often make calls with friends online too, so this really impressed me. And the gap in the other person's personality was so cute that I noticed a bit too late that I was already replaying it over and over. That's how wonderful I thought this work was. It made me want to hear more of this story, I found myself wanting to keep listening to what happens next between these two, and even though it's not an off-line meetup scenario, I felt like I wanted to hear that kind of story too. I'm not conveying the appeal of this work very well, but I really want everyone to experience this double enjoyment of the gap in the other person's personality and the content of the call itself. It's just a bit of a shame that the overall runtime is short.
The PC call setup makes a great impression as well. But for this review, I really want to talk about how wonderfully the voice actor Soramame. uses "silence." The timing of pauses in moments of thinking or holding one's breath felt incredibly real, and I could share in that tension. It made me realize once again that even silence can carry meaning. Of course, the acting itself is outstanding too, and there's a real sense of comfort in the soft voice.
