Two childhood friends who have been together since the day they were born. All the way through high school, they've spent more time together than most families do. In the last summer of high school, even amid a busy life of schoolwork and club activities, Natsuki (CV: Emi Nitta) never stops worrying about and looking out for you. This is the story of how, while feeling uneasy about the limited time left in high school and the new life waiting after graduation, and while wrestling with her conflicted feelings about singing—its meaning, its joy—Natsuki comes to finally convey her feelings for the protagonist (you). The last summer vacation of high school, spent together with Natsuki. Natsuki asks you to accompany her for just one day on a special training retreat. Led along just as she asks, the place she takes you to turns out to be a charming old traditional house where her grandmother normally lives. And so you end up spending one day of that summer vacation completely alone together, just the two of you.
A third-year high school student. An energetic girl who's good at every sport. Captain of the choir club. As the central figure of the choir club, everyone relies on her. The choir is strong enough to compete at the national tournament, and in the fall they'll face their final choir competition of high school. She loves taking care of people, and has looked after the protagonist (you)—who seems unable to do anything without her—since childhood, which is how her feelings of love for you first took root. As the time for both of you to move on to further schooling or work draws near, she feels a bit anxious about this life together coming to an end. Also, as everyone's expectations of her grow heavier, she's begun to feel a little resistance toward singing, something she used to love without reservation. Ever since she was little she's been good at lulling people to sleep, and used to sing the listener lullabies she wrote herself. The reason she came to love singing was both because she genuinely loved to sing, and because it made her happy that the protagonist (you) always listened so happily. Her fondest memory is the very first time the protagonist (you) praised her singing when she was small, but she assumes the listener has already forgotten it, so she keeps it hidden away only within her own heart.
