If Momotori-san says, "Please listen and compare the usual version with the underwater one," then... Yes, I did just that. Honestly. Shall I tell you what I found comparing them? Sorry!! I'm sorry!!! I like the usual version better!!!! I did think it was interesting. After all, it's not something you normally experience—listening to someone talk while your ears are submerged in water. There have been situations like "diving into the ocean" before, but those were more atmospheric than anything. But recording with the binaural mic actually submerged? That's an insanely crazy experience. Seriously crazy! Completely overtaken by the bubbling sounds, getting my ears poked and prodded, my earlobes massaged. While actually diving, thinking of Urashima Tarou's old tale and his feelings—that part really was lovely. But Uribou's voice... it's hard to hear. It's very difficult to make out what she's saying. "Well, of course, it's underwater," you might say, and that may be true, but personally it was a fatal flaw. Whether it was the story about Inoko (her wish to grow up) or the story about the Aodaishou snake, I could only catch about 60% of it in fragments. There were even times I had no idea what whole lines were saying, and while it made me chuckle a little, it also made me sad. Her little verbal tics, "desu naa," "gozaimasu naa"—the ones I love so much about her—were all somewhat blurred too. I understand this was meant as an experimental work. A fresh experience is, of course, important. That's true, but more than that... I just wanted to talk with Uri-chan a little more...
I'm a regular listener and an overseas fan. Thank you for always coming up with new ideas and actively putting them into practice. Now, about my thoughts on the underwater ear cleaning and various play styles—to conclude, personally I think I prefer the normal version. The underwater ASMR was strangely soothing, but it also became somehow harder to make out the words. Also, it's a shame because Inoko-chan actually had a lot of lines prepared this time, but they ended up being quite hard to hear. That's the part I have to criticize. Now for the good parts. It's simpler, but during the "amagami" (gentle biting) segment, when she said "go in deeper" and pushed her tongue deep into my ear, it was absolutely amazing! I hope this kind of flow, including "amagami" where you can really feel the sound of her tongue, continues—not just in R18 works. Lastly, let me just leave a bit of my own hopes here: after listening to this work, I can't help but wonder if there's a possibility of an adult-oriented Inoko-chan work in the future...
It's been quite a while since a main-story installment, and it can't be helped, but it's such a waste that Inoko-san's voice is hard to make out! Michikusaya is a long-running series, and this is already the fourth work featuring Inoko-san. The attitude of continuously experimenting is admirable, and as actual sound, it's genuinely pleasant and soothing—but for someone who loves the character herself, whom I've grown attached to over a long time, it's a bit of a mixed blessing. Still, even just the part up until the underwater ear cleaning was enough to enjoy her distinctive way of speaking and her character, so overall my impression was really just "it can't be helped, but what a shame."
